"O Believers! Fasting is ordained for you, even as it was ordained for those before you
so that you may learn self restraint." Al-Baqarah, (183)

Dear Guest,

Salam Alaikum and Greetings to you. Ramadan is here and we should receive it with true repentance and a strong will to avail ourselves of Allah's special mercy and kindness bestowed on us during this holy month.

Fasting in Ramadan is a fundamental ordinance of Islam. It is Fardh, (an obligatory duty) as Allah, the Almighty said: "O you who believe, fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may learn self restraint".

Allah has assigned some merits to the auspicious month of Ramadan. They are:
* The odour of the mouth of a fasting person is more pleasing to Allah than the aroma of musk,
* Angels ask Allah's forgiveness for those men who fast (till they break their fast),
* Every day, Allah has His paradise decorated and He says: "My good worshippers are about to get rid of the burden (of life) and the harm done to them and then get to you (O Paradise)".
* In Ramadan, devils are shackled.
* In it, there is the Night of Power (Lailatul Qadr) which is better than a thousand months.
* During Ramadan the reward of every good deed of a person is multiplied by ten to seven hundred times according to his intention and sincerity.

Allah (swt) proclaims; "Fasting is for Me and I Myself shall bestow the reward. The person who fasts, forgoes his desires, eating and drinking for My sake will be entitled to two kinds of delights; one will be at the time of breaking the fast, and the second will be at the time of meeting his Lord".

The good deeds that we should do in Ramadan are:

* Fasting: It is a shield from Hell Fire and expiation from sins.
* Qiyam: Those who spend some parts of the night in Ramada in remembering Allah, is forgiven for all the sins he has committed so far.
* Tarawih: Whoever prayed at night with his Imam till the later leaves, will be rewarded as if he prayed the whole night.
* Sadaqa: The best charity is that which is given away in Ramadan.
* Tilawah: Every Muslim should recite the holy Quran a great deal in Ramadan.
* Zikr: Whoever offers the Fajr prayer, sits praising Allah (zikr) till sunrise, and then prays two rakahs (Chasht), will get a reward which is quite equivalent to that of Hajj and Umra.
* I'tikaaf: To confine oneself in a Mosque for prayers, and invocations leaving the worldly jobs for a limited number of days.
* Lailatul Qadr: The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. The one who finds it with sincerity, all his previous sins will be forgiven.
* Umra: Performing Umra in Ramadan is equivalent to performing Hajj with the Prophet (pbuh).

Lets worship with obedience to Allah (swt) and earn His mercy and divine rewards, inshallah.

"O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart."
- Ash-Shu'araa, (83-89)
