The history of modern art started with Impressionism. With the beginning of the Industrial Revolution in the second half of the 19th century, new art styles and movements appeared and disappeared at an increasingly fast pace - thus reflecting the growing rate of changes in our society. It all began in Paris as a reaction to a very formal and rigid style of painting. Modern art is often easier to make, than to try to explain it.
